Here we are at the end of 2014, and we’ve had a great year! Recaps give us a chance to reflect, celebrate successes, and plan improvements going forward. It has been a momentum building year. While things for Digital Cyclops started out slow in the winter, by summer, we were busier than ever; things continued to ramp up right through until mid-December. Our ability to manage multiple projects has really matured and we continue to do a significant amount of live event capture in increasing variety.
Digital Cyclops Video Productions – 2014 In Review
– We starting shooting material in 4K resolution this year. This looks to be one of the biggest new technologies in video – it’s the “new HD.”
– Here we are, filming the Grammy Award winning Kings of Leon at Rogers Arena.
– We helped our new national account, EZ Strip, craft content for Home Depot in Canada. We look forward to helping them out with their big U.S. launch in 2015.
– A speedy social media project, here is a slo-mo ALS challenge we filmed and edited on a three hour turn around.
– We won an award for Live Event Capture from our peers at the BCPVA.
– We filmed and edited a promotional video for the book launch of an award-winning author with Houghton Mifflin.
– We acted as first AC for interstitial film content for the Leo Awards
– We had the opportunity to live operate a camera for Chinese comedian, Wong Tze Wah, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. (We will be filming more Cantonese content in the new year!)
– We shot video for a number of dignitaries, including Olympian Silken Laumann and Patrick Kennedy.
– We were pleased to have worked with a number of non-profit organizations, including filming a ground breaking ceremony for BC’s Goodlife Pacific Autism Family Centre.
– As usual for us, we filmed and edited a number of conferences and symposiums around Vancouver this year
– We created a number of motion graphics in 2- and 3-D, including work for the Justice Institute of BC.
– We worked with the APEG Foundation, the engineering association which assigns designations to all facets of engineering and geoscience throughout BC
– Again with Houghton Mifflin, we scripted, cast, produced, filmed and edited material for an upcoming book trailer. This was an exciting project despite shooting in freezing temperatures inside a rental van.
– This year, we filmed quite a few bands in a variety of locations.
– Here is an example still that we shot for Nintendo.

Issa me… Mario!
– We ran an on-demand green screen booth, delivering to 800 clients during a 3 hour session.
– Last, but certainly not least, we created video interviews and shot B-Roll in a fascinating VFX House that does work for movies such as Sin City, Transformers, The Interview, and Guardians of the Galaxy.
We at Digital Cyclops Video Productions look forward to the adventures in 2015 – on and off screen, with old friends and new. May there be creativity, joy, growth, and prosperity for all in the coming year!
