Ahh yes, the battle of the 4K Cameras begins.  Allow me the latitude of geeking out a bit here.  Sony just unveiled a full frame Camera today that is capable of shooting 4K footage in a HDSLR form factor.  The big news here, is that the dynamic range, including use of sLog2 Gamma and the monster iso range of almost half a million iso!  It pretty much shoots in the dark here!  Note that the 4K will need to be paired with an external 4K recorder, but having that capability at a potentially low price point has a lot of people talking.  One of the first 4K HDMI recorders that has been announced is the Atmos Shogun.  The Sony A7s full frame design afford this camera to gather the maximum amount of light.  When you look at the footage, in particular in the temple scenes, you can see some quite high isos lit largely by candlelight only.  Very impressive.  No announced pricing nor date of availability. It is reported to be hitting the streets by summer, and costing should be similar to the A7 and A7r at around $2000-3000.

At the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show, this is truly going to be the year of 4K and brushless motor gimbal systems.  These are going to be all over the show floor and we’ll be keeping tuned to see more details on the developments from the manufacturers.
